Coming on as a replacement for Tom Murphy on Saturday Max Stewart notched up his 100 appearance for the Woods.
Max, captain of Seconds, played his junior rugby for the Avoca Sharks on the Central Coast. Max went on to represent NSW country and NSW at a junior level. When it came to coming to play in Sydney Eastwood was the logical choice for Max who has Woodies in his DNA. Max’s great uncles Chris and Andrew Hickey and uncles Ben and Luke Spindler are all Woods through and through. In 2016 Max started traveling down from the central coast to play colts for two years and was selected for the NSW under 20 and was made capitain of Colts 1 for the 2017 season.
Max still lives on the Central Coast and travels down each week to train and play with Eastwood and is keen to get Seconds back on track this week against Northern Suburbs.
“My highlight playing for Eastwood would have to be beating a stacked Randwick side in Colts 1 at T G Millner. But the next best thing about the the club is the mates I’ve made over the past five years.”
