East are always a tough assignment at Woollahra Oval, and Saturday was no exception.

As expected the game started at a frantic pace, and we managed to score two first half tries and our strong defence only allowed Easts to score in the dying minutes of the first half to narrow the gap on the scoreboard. While our defence was solid, we were struggling to exit our own half and also to retain the ball for extended periods. With the messages clear at half time to build pressure through phases, and straighten the attack, the boys were confident they could close out the game.

However, we struggled to execute in the second stanza and Easts took their opportunities off the back of our mistakes, through poor discipline and ball retention. The set piece was hit and miss so a definite area we need to strengthen moving forward, so we can unleash our strike weapons in the backs.

Immediately after the game, the boys were extremely disappointed and already looking at how they were going to turn it around. We will regroup and refocus this week  as we are all looking forward to turning the tables and getting back to the winners circle this week against Two Blues.
