3rd Grade – WON 42 – 12
Another week down and another much needed win. Every week has been finals footy for 3s since losing to Sydney Uni and we continue to grow as a team on the field, but more so off it.
This game against Manly had the potential to be a banana skin game as they are not travelling so well. But a quick reminder to the team before running out was that they are now where we were 2 weeks ago and deserved the respect of our best. Also a bonus incentive to play well was the fact that stalwart Tim Williams was playing his 200th game for Eastwood. The boys needed to turn it on and they did. 42-12 was a good score line but didn’t really reflect our dominance. A lot of opportunities squandered by not being patient and sticking to structures or the last pass would go to ground. Definitely a lot of work ons as we continue to improve as a team but the pleasing aspect is that every game we are continuing to build strongly as a unit.
On a great note Tim Williams scored a double and maintains his 100 percent conversion record at TG Millner of 2 from 2 as he slotted the last goal.
On a sour note though Tai Luani, who has been great for us since returning suffered a serious leg injury which most probably has ruled him out for the rest of the season. Tai has been a great servant for Eastwood and I’m not alone when I say to him that we thank him for his service and pray for a speedy recovery. A great player, but an even better man.
