2nd Grade – LOST 26 – 29
The thought of the long trip to Rat Park can be a struggle at the best of times but even more so when trying to steer the season back in the right direction. Angus Arundel made his debut for the Woods at tight head prop and put in a solid performance, especially since he hadn’t played in some time and strengthened the scrum which we used to our advantage. We again started well and jumped out of the gate and scored 2 early tries. However, ball retention from kick off’s has been a struggle and we invited Norths back into the game and finished the half 2 tries a piece.
We traded blows in the second half with both teams again crossing the line twice, unfortunately a late penalty to Norths would be the deciding factor. We kept attacking to the final whistle, but the clock would be our enemy on this day. While we have not got the right results in the last few rounds, the team knows it has the capability to compete with any team as we have each week, but just need to close games out by improving our ball retention, patience and decision making with the ball. The season is definitely not over but the boys are just looking at one game at a time and letting the competition ladder take care of itself.
This now sets up a tough encounter with Manly this week but we are finally back home which will boost the energy of the team, who will look to give the crowd something to cheer about.
